REVIEW 01.

Dr Hung Tran has has guided me to peel back the layers of this remarkable medicine and shown what it’s truly capable of and at the same time shown what we as individuals are truly capable of.

The sessions are a wonderful mix of theory and self development that is unique in the world of learning this medicine. Every student and long term practitioner should at least at some point engage with this mentoring program.

REVIEW 02.

The mentoring sessions with Hung have been invaluable to me as I explore the wonder and complexities of the genuine ancient knowledge of Chinese Medicine as disseminated by the lineage holder Jeffrey Yuen and his student Ann Cecil-Sterman. It sometimes feels like I’m just putting a toe in the water of the vast ocean of material that Jeffrey has made available but Ann’s teaching, her clinical guidebook and Hung’s support and experience have given me a base from which to learn and explore the Complement Channels. Initially, I was privileged to participate in the practical sessions at Hung’s clinic which gave me direct experience of clinical assessment and treatment. This was immeasurably valuable to my understanding and appreciation of using Han Dynasty Chinese Medicine and was greatly enhanced by Hung sharing his teaching of Qi Gung, meditation and spiritual healing perspectives. Latterly, the format of mentoring sessions has evolved into on-line sessions where the focus has been on self-cultivation of “the person behind the needle”. Hung’s appreciation of the ups and downs of clinical practice and of continuous learning has developed into providing a programme which both challenges and supports the acupuncture practitioner whether newly qualified or experienced. There is opportunity within the group to share questions, experiences and insights so that we can learn from each other in the sessions and also via an on-line communication platform.

Being part of the mentoring group has given me the confidence to practice and experiment with the use of the Complement Channels and also to integrate these tools and rituals into my own way of practicing. In Hung’s teaching there is emphasis on listening, waiting and intuition as a way to engage with the energetic and spiritual interplay that is the patient-practitioner dynamic with the intention of treating for the highest good, however that manifests. This is not a quick gathering of knowledge but a slow development which requires much self-guided input. For me, each of my patients is an opportunity to apply the learning so giving the material more meaning through that application.

From a business point of view I take longer per patient than my colleagues as I often have to refer to notes or Ann’s book, I’m getting better! However, I have attracted patients who appreciate my Yuen perspectives on disease progression and health. I have a practice that has depth and richness; challenges that can be tiring and successes that are amazing. Underpinning it all is self-cultivation and development which is on-going.

REVIEW 03.

Dr Hung Tran is an outstanding teacher and mentor. For acupuncturists interested in the teachings of Jeffrey Yuen and Ann Cecil-Sterman, he makes those teachings accessible and clinically applicable through his unique approach emphasising self-cultivation and experiential learning.

I have felt vastly empowered, both personally and as an acupuncturist, through working with Dr Tran. His guidance, whilst gentle, is powerful. I sometimes find myself with a deep and transformative insight at a random point in my day, the basis of which can be traced back to some words that Dr Tran has spoken some weeks earlier. I'm starting to understand how my mind operates. This increases the clarity of my mind, which ultimately improves my presence in the clinic. It also helps me to understand how to help my clients who are often suffering from a 'disease rooted in the spirit'.

Despite Dr Tran's extensive clinical experience and his profound wisdom, he remains touchingly humble and approachable. When trying to apply Classical Chinese Medicine in the clinic, the ability to seek advice from someone like Dr Tran means everything. At the same time, he encourages his students to experiment and find our own path, which increases our independence and validates our own experience.

I'm truly and deeply grateful to have Dr Tran as my mentor. My confidence and effectiveness as an acupuncturist has grown exponentially, and I feel happier and more fulfilled within myself.

REVIEW 04.

The mentoring programme is unique in that it doesn’t make us feel we are studying it. Instead, all the channels, acupuncture points, energetic physiology etc are presented as living materials, so they easily sink into our way of thinking. Meditation before and reflection at the end of each session help this process too. We are guided into the expansive world of CCM and then encouraged to share what we explore with the group which helps satisfying the curiosity and consolidating the understanding even more. The mentor, backed with his years’ experience of teaching the medicine and spirituality, is so adept at creating the field where we all feel safe and open for shared learning. I’d recommend this programme to any acupuncturist out there who wants to further enhance the quality of their practice as well as to cultivate the spirituality as a practitioner.

REVIEW 05.

It was through the mentoring classes that I started to understand what energetic medicine really means. I feel that the classes with you and the input we were getting have started to transform me. Some of your lessons or just phrases had a deep impact on me. For example things you said like: “Don’t try to push patients up the hill.”

I have also started to meditate on a regular basis and am amazed by the richness, wisdom and depth to the medicine I’m getting to know. I’m also very grateful for your guidance.

I think the mentoring classes have had a big impact on how I treat people. As Jeffrey says…"Know little but resonate it.” Or as my mother says... “Be simple, with an open heart. But be clear in your intention.”

All in all from the bottom of my heart I can say, you are a very generous mentor and I want to thank you so much. The proverb you once posted is always with me..."We are spiritual beings with a human experience".
